Growing up, John was raised with core tenets that shaped who he is: kindness to all and leading with respect.​ As a teenager, he developed a love for performance and storytelling, building the work ethic that would shape his acting career. For well over a decade, John has taken an analytical approach to his art, blending thoughtful care into his characters while inviting collaborative insights from those around him. He values sharing the human experience and condition through his characters, but he also wants to bring levity through laughter, as sorrow and joy go hand in hand.

As a process-oriented leader, John likes to take the Ted Lasso/Walt Whitman approach of "be curious, not judgemental." Because of this, other collaborators often feel free to experiment and explore, and they can depend on John to be receptive and safe with their creativity. As a staging captain with Disney Cruise Line (DCL), John worked to bridge the gap between upper management and the creative team while remaining faithful to the process. His belief in process over product guided his decision and leadership style.
